AI at the service of the human experience, never as a replacement
At Genius Loci, we are constantly exploring the new possibilities offered by artificial intelligence. Already integrated into several features, such as real-time translation, AI also supports us in the design and prototyping of our innovations. Some of these features are in the testing phase and will be unveiled in the coming months.
But a recent trend in the field of tourism challenges us: that of replacing humans with AI.
Why?
– Because it’s very fashionable.
– Because there is political pressure to support this type of project
– Because it seems simpler and faster than collaborating with real (human) experts.
As UX designers and enthusiasts of immersive experiences, we have a strong conviction: Nothing replaces the richness of human contact. No one travels to interact with impersonal artificial intelligences or listen to generic, sanitized content.
On the contrary, visitors who take the time to discover a region are looking for:
- Authenticity – Local stories, told with passion.
- Of the human – Exchanges, meetings, emotions.
– Ethics – An approach that respects knowledge, cultures and local stakeholders.
- A unique experience – Which could not exist anywhere else.
We believe deeply in technology. But for us, AI is an augmentation tool, not a substitute for humans.
It must enrich the experience without distorting its essence.
It is our Geniuses (Humans!) who make our concept valuable.
It is this vision that makes the singularity of Genius Loci, and which we are committed to preserving.
