Episode 04 of Genius Loci the story!
First tests. How was the concept validated?
Validate the concept of Genius Loci thanks to our experience of Design Sprint
When we embark on a new entrepreneurial adventure, uncertainty is often our biggest companion. It's impossible to really know what will work or not.
But we are used to uncertainty. In another life, we are specialists in DesignSprint, Google Ventures' innovation method. And in the end these uncertainties were an invitation to implement what we do best: prototype and test quickly.
The Design Sprint: Our secret weapon
The Design Sprint methodology is an intensive five-day approach that transforms an idea into a tangible prototype. It relies on rapid iteration, intensive brainstorming and, above all, qualitative tests with real users. It is this method that we chose to validate the concept of Genius Loci.
Our first steps
From our first discussions around Genius Loci, we couldn't wait to test it. In our daily professional life, we are constantly looking to put our ideas to the test quickly. So it was natural for us to create a Figma prototype from the start.
The power of prototyping
Figma is our favorite tool. As designers, we understand the importance of materializing an idea, of making it tangible. This is what we did with our first prototype of Genius Loci. But the real power of the Design Sprint is to obtain real customer or user feedback, without fluff.
Qualitative tests: Valuable feedback
We didn't just design a prototype. We put it in the hands of real users, that's the key. Thanks to qualitative testing, we were able to collect feedback directly from our target audience. It was a crucial step. These tests not only showed us what worked, but also what needed to be improved.
Using our Design Sprint expertise, we quickly identified strengths and areas of improvement for Genius Loci. Each feedback, each critique, guided us in our next iterations, allowing us to refine our concept until it was ready for the market.
Conclusion
The road to validation Genius Loci has not been without challenges. But, armed with our Design Sprint expertise, we navigated through these challenges with confidence. For us, this adventure was further proof of the power of rapid prototyping and qualitative testing. Genius Loci is not just a product of our imagination, but the result of a proven methodology and feedback from real users.
Without this we would never have had the courage to invest the time and money necessary for this adventure.

AboutGenius Loci
2000 years ago, the Romans thought that every place was protected by a Genius Loci, - the spirit of the place.
Today, the “genius loci” designates the particular atmosphere of a place, its character, its history. The term is particularly used in architecture.
Now we’ve taken up this notion to create a rewarding and easy-to-use tool for cities, community organizations and individual citizens, to promote and digitize their favorite hidden attractions and secrets, while preserving heritage for all to access.
Created in Switzerland by the brains behind Design Sprint Ltd, Genius Loci SA offers the possibility of making hyperlocal destinations finally attractive, at a very affordable cost for cities, associations and communities.
