The lives of your ancestors, the place where you grew up, your town, your neighbourhood… no one can tell these stories better than you. Genius Loci is a link between the past, the present and future generations.
Citizens become "Genius"
Funded by towns or villages, regions or associations, the Genius Loci Medals offer the chance to co-create content with the local population.
History, architecture and culture enthusiasts can finally share their knowledge, in context. They become the guardians of the memory of these places.

3 hours to start showcasing your region
The workshop usually takes place on Saturday between 9:30 and 12:00, followed by an aperitif offered by the municipality
The workshop facilitators guide the groups through the process of collecting content and adding it to the Genius Loci digital space.
💡 No computer skills are required
At the end of the workshop, the first Genius Loci Medals will be activated, with the first anecdotes and stories, ready to be installed. The content can be enriched later on.

Where to place the medals?
Genius Loci’s ambition is to showcase places that are still hidden or little known. A natural curiosity, an old house, a bench, a statue, a grave, a village square, a remarkable tree…
The medals were designed to blend in elegantly anywhere, including as close as possible to the object being showcased. If it’s not your own private spot, remember to ask for permission before placing it.

2,000 years ago, the Romans believed every place was protected by a Genius Loci, the spirit of place.
Today, “genius loci” refers to the unique atmosphere of a place — its character, its history. The term is particularly used in architecture.
We have taken up this idea to turn it into a tool for showcasing and digitising heritage, driven by citizens themselves.
Founded in Switzerland by the designers of Design Sprint Ltd, Genius Loci SA finally makes hyperlocal destinations attractive, at a cost that is genuinely accessible to municipalities, associations and local authorities.
