It was Dylan Métrailler, Director of Évolène Région Tourisme, and Éric Quinodoz, Cultural Officer, who came up with the idea of introducing Genius Loci medals to the val d’Hérens — enabling the first medals to be deployed in record time. Ultimately, nearly 70 sites across the val d’Hérens will be registered in the network.
Driven by a dynamic team made up largely of local young people, Évolène has embraced connected medals to great enthusiasm from residents. These medals unlock the history and hidden treasures of the village and its chalets through compelling, on-site digital content. The initiative reflects the municipality’s commitment to blending tradition and technology to preserve and promote its cultural and natural heritage, while celebrating the energy and dedication of its younger generation. Évolène continues to draw curious visitors and passionate explorers eager to discover the secrets of this alpine gem.
