A member of the Sociétés savantes de Savoie since 2000, La Salévienne brings together more than 200 passionate locals who want to take part in historical research or simply explore and understand their regional past. This association, based in the Genevois area of Haute-Savoie, has deployed 50 heritage medals to showcase the treasures surrounding Mont Salève.
La Salévienne played a pivotal role in shaping the Genius Loci project. From the very beginning, we reached out to this respected association to validate our concept and gain a clear understanding of their specific needs. Figures such as Pierre Cusin, Jean Louis Sarte and Nathalie Debize strengthened our resolve to press ahead, highlighting the remarkable potential for local heritage enhancement across the region and the ease with which Genius Loci medals could be put in place.
Before discovering Genius Loci, the association had already installed around ten interpretation panels. That process had demanded a great deal of time, in-depth discussions, agreements with local authorities, and significant costs — including grant applications.
Genius Loci gave the association the ability to produce unlimited content, with automatic translation for international visitors, and to let people explore every nearby site through the Trail mode.
The association held a wealth of heritage data, which it was able to integrate into the platform quickly. All 50 medals were installed in record time, spread across more than 10 municipalities.
Before placing each medal, association members contacted the relevant municipal representatives or private landowners — all of whom responded positively to the idea of showcasing their territory.
We continue to collaborate on a regular basis to improve both the platform and the visitor experience.
