When Maxence Robyns first watched James Cameron’s Titanic, an immense passion for maritime history was born in him. A graduate of the University of Namur, he went on to pursue doctoral studies at the University of the Antilles, where he earned his PhD.

As one of the few experts in Martinique’s maritime history, his deep expertise in the field is reflected in an exceptional command of archival collections dedicated to the maritime history of the Lesser Antilles. He has worked as a lecturer at the University of the Antilles and as a history and geography teacher at several schools across Occitania.

In 2022, he launched his freelance practice under the name Histremer before joining forces, in 2024, with Bastien Dubuisson to found the agency HistHorizons.

Convinced that Genius Loci connected medals can help bring history to a wider audience, Maxence Robyns is proud to serve as the brand’s Ambassador for the Gard, Hérault, Guadeloupe, and Martinique regions.
